Imu in the One Piece TCG meta

Imu OP13-079 is the premier control deck of the OP13 format and one of the most resilient decks in One Piece TCG history. Black gives the strongest removal effects in the game: -2,000 to -5,000 power reductions, instant KO events, and the devastating Five Elders Characters that arrive with effects that wipe the opponent's board. Imu's Leader effect lets you attach DON!! to your Characters during the opponent's turn, turning each of their attacks into an opportunity for you to power up your defenders. The Empty Throne Stage is the key win condition: when active, it makes all Black Characters immune to opponent effects — a near-unbreakable late game wall.

Tips for playing Imu

1. 1

   Setup The Empty Throne (Stage OP13-097) as your primary objective from turn 1. Every turn you play without it is a turn the opponent can freely use effects against your Characters.

2. 2

   Five Elders Characters are your primary win condition board pieces. They have high power and arrive with board-wiping On Play effects. Sequence them to remove the most dangerous opponent threats on entry.

3. 3

   Black's power reduction Events are best used defensively — when the opponent attacks, reduce their attacker's power below your Blocker's power to cancel the attack entirely rather than just counter the damage.

4. 4

   Imu dropped from Tier S to Tier A after Enel OP15 released. However, it maintains favorable matchups against Lucy, Nami and Mihawk — all major meta decks. Evaluate the meta before committing.

5. 5

   Mulligan aggressively for early removal. Without board control from turns 1–3, Black cannot deploy its expensive pieces safely in mid game.
